5 current must haves

I'm not one to be much of a "beauty blogger", but I do have a few products that I use everyday that I just love... why not share them with you!

1. Big Sexy Hair root pump- my hair is generally flat, and I hate that! I don't want a ton of volume, but I need something. I squirt a couple pumps of this into the roots of my hair before blow drying and it really makes a difference.

2. Mary Kay Timewise Foundation- my skin is typically oily, so I got the one specified for oily skin. I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, but it seems to stay on and has good coverage, I'll buy it again. Also, I've had it for a couple months and still have the majority of the tube left, a little goes a long way!

3. Milkshake volumizing shampoo and conditioner- I have been using this product for a few years now. My beautician keeps this stuff in her shop and it smells like heaven when she puts it in my hair. I can definitely tell a difference in my hair when I don't use this product- it helps with volume. They have smaller bottles, but I prefer the liter pumps.

4. Naked 2 eye shadow- This eye shadow is pretty popular right, and I'm sure many of you either have it or want it. I use the shade "snakebite" the most. I have used this everyday since the end of last year and you can't see the bottom metal under the shadow in any of them. I was afraid I would run out quickly, but I haven't. (I use urban decay eye shadow primer underneath the shadow to help keep it in place).

5. Nivea Kiss of smoothness chapstick- I have used this for years and I still have multiple tubes, in my makeup bag, purse, and desk drawer. Good for hydrating. I use this everyday regardless of other lipstick, it works great as a base.

Do you have anything you love that you just have to use everyday?

Weekend-Wrap up: Flooding and Shopping

Hello, friends!

Monday morning strikes again. I'm already seeing not working next Monday as my motivation to get through this week. I've got a crazy busy week ahead of me work wise, so I'm pausing to remember our weekend.

Friday evening after work, I headed straight the the football field where my brothers play for tailgating with friends and family before the game. Game was scheduled to begin at 8:00pm. Well, thanks to the monsoon that came through the area, the game was on a delay... which put kick off at 11:00pm. The away team came from over 3 hours away, and if a teams calls the game off before half time, it is a forfeit. Being the first game, of course nobody wanted to do that. Between our umbrellas and my parents' camper that was in the parking lot for tailgating, we stayed pretty dry. When the game did get started, our team was doing great and my brother, Bradley, had a touch down. The rain picked up again- hard rain. There were 4 minutes left in the 2nd quarter and the game was delayed because it thundered. 30 minutes went on the clock. Then it thundered again and another 30 minutes were added. This was putting the game continuing around 1am. After waiting for the delays, the officials post poned the game until next month- so at 1:30am we knew the game was called off and we were going home.... one problem, flooding. Many people throughout our area posted flooding pictures on facebook, mudslides, covered roads, washed out driveways, etc. We had heard of a neighbor not being able to get home, so we figured out a plan. We were able to get home around 2 in my brother's truck and my Rogue since it's AWD. I should also mention that my older brother and my sister in law traveled about 3 hours to watch the game. It was a crazy night, but we stuck it out because we love my brothers, and the game.

Saturday morning we were supposed to meet friends in a town 2 hours away for breakfast before we started our shopping trip we had planned. However, due to the late night before, we ended up just hanging out at our friends' new town house, which was beautifully decorated. It was so great to see Eric and Jade and I'm thankful we are a little bit closer so that we can visit. After visiting friends, we stopped at a few stores in the mall and then had dinner at Olive Garden, hello giftcard. We had a few other stores to stop at afterwards and then we headed home that night. It was a great day and I was happy to have spent time with Preston as well as our friends, Eric and Jade.

Sunday we went to church, as usual. Church was great- the message was about being Men of God (last week was ladies week). I love that our minister pointed out that being a Christian man isn't wimpy as some may say- it is courageous: you can be a manly man and be a Christian. After church we got caught up on some laundry, I made a dessert for the picnic, and we watched some t.v. Didn't do a whole lot after church and it was perfect. Then Sunday evening we went back to church for a church picnic, which was fun and then we went home. At home, my mom and I sewed a few things on the embroidery machine and I was also fascinated by making me some t shirts with the heat press vinyl machine, hello monogrammed pocked tee.

And there you have it- our wonderful weekend. I guess I was too busy to take pictures, I'm a slacker when it comes to pictures on my blog, sorry for that.

Have a great week!

Five on Friday: Kentucky Edition

Happy Friday!! So excited for it to be Friday and to have the weekend to look forward to. For today's 5 on Friday, I decided to make it a Kentucky edition- 5 reasons I am glad we moved! So, here they are:

[ONE] I love that I am able to go to things with my family/be closer to my family. For example, this weekend we are going to my brothers' football stuff. (Also excited to have a talented mom to embroider me and applique shirt for said "football stuff"). Also happy that it makes it much easier to visit my grandparents. Nana, I know you are reading, sorry we are further from you!

[TWO] We are really liking our new church. While we miss some individuals at our previous church, we are excited to see where this new ministry takes us.

[THREE] It isn't finished yet, but we are really looking forward to owning our own home, which is brand spanking new. It is fun to pick out different things for the house and make it our own.

[FOUR] The location we live in offers much more than our previous community. While it's still a small town, it's nice to have more options to choose from- simple things make a difference, people!

[FIVE] Change. While we hadn't lived in our previous location very long, sometimes a good change is needed. This move has made lots of changes, but so far, everything has been going well.

So, we've lived here for almost a week and I have found several things that I really like and I am sure I will love it even more when we are actually in our house. Sure, there are some negatives, like driving to work, but the postives out weight the negatives by far.

Have a happy weekend!

Cha Cha Cha Chaaanges

At the beginning of the month, I had thought about 5 major things that are happening this month and things that we needed to do. It's almost the middle of the month and 3 of those 5 things have already been done. We've packed our stuff and we moved to Kentucky this past Saturday. It was tiring, but I'm glad we have everything boxed up and in the storage unit until our house is finished.

Speaking of the house, we meet with the builder this week to pick finishings. We had already chosen our cabinets, but now they are discontinued so we are back to the drawing board with that. We also picked our paint colors this week. I can't wait to see if finished and fast forward to when everything is unpacked and put away in it's proper place!

This past Sunday was our first Sunday at our new church. It went great, everyone was so welcoming! We are very excited to be involved there. One of my favorite things about church was the message on Sunday evening. I was reminded that work and my career are not everything. Of course, I know this, but it's always nice to have the reminder. My job is not who I am but what I do. "You don't have a job when you come into the world, and you don't have a job leaving the world, so you can't put all your eggs in that basket."

Chloe girl is adjusting to the move, however she's had a hard time. She does NOT like the stairs at my parents' house and I hope it's not a preview of how she will be with our stairs in our new house. I think she's just having to get use to them again, we've been in a 1 story for a while.

It seems like there are big changes for lots of people lately. Moving, changing jobs, expecting a baby, change in relationships, etc. One thing that is amazing to me is that God already knows what's going to happen and it's in His perfect plan- trusting Him.

Thoughts for August

It's Friday, and I'm having my lunch break at work, which means just half a day to go until the weekend! I have been thinking about some things we need to get done/ will be doing in the month of August, and honestly, there is a LOT! So, time to try to organize all of these things a little bit.

1. The huge thing we'll be doing this month is moving to Kentucky. However, since our house is not complete yet, we will be staying with my parents until then. My parents have a spare room that we are able to stay in, but before then, we need to get it ready. My mom would like the carpets shampooed and the walls the be repainted, and I'm all for that, but before we can do that, the things in it have to go out. So, today on the first day of August, we are doing just that. Also with moving, we've got to pack everything.

2. Packing is such a large task, I think that it needs a bullet point to itself. So far, we've got our spare bathroom, half the kitchen, and the dining room packed... but the list of what we still have to do is endless. Since we are only staying with my parents for a short time, we plan on just using our large suitcases for our casual clothes and then hanging our work clothes, so that will be easy. Hopefully tomorrow morning I will get the blankets and candles that are in one of our closets boxed up. Preston is off this next week so that will be helpful in getting a lot of it done. I'm trying to figure out a way to take a day off just for packing, but I've got lots of appointments next week so I don't know if that is do-able.

3. Start ministry at our new church. Preston's official first day is August 10th, however we are going to meet up with some of the youth group and sponsors tomorrow. Also, next weekend they are having a church picnic they have invited us to so we are hoping to go to that. We are very excited to get started at this church- good things are coming, I can feel it.

4. We need to officially buy our house! Our offer has been accepted and the contract has been signed, so now we are going through the other steps working towards closing. We were shooting for closing some time in the last week of August, however it's likely to be middle of September. But I am hopeful, so that is why it's still listed in my August thoughts. And if we don't actually close this month, we'll still be doing several things to contribute to closing.

5. Speaking of our new house, this month we will meet with the builder to pick out the finishings. I'm excited about being able to pick and choose what kind of things are going into our house and I cannot wait to see the final outcome! Also excited to see the drive way cement, it is gravels right now.

Well, I only did 5 things, but I feel that those 5 things to do this month are pretty huge.... crazy to know that by the end of next month we'll be in our new house!! Wooo!
